When should I get my home tested for mold?
It is important to get a mold inspection service upon either buying or selling a new home. As a buyer, you need to know every detail of the condition and safety of your home before making such an important investment. As a seller, it is important to know the risks associated with selling the property so that they can be corrected or disclosed to a buyer before he or she unknowingly puts their family in danger. As a homeowner, it is important to have your home tested for mold in case you notice high levels of humidity inside the home, unusual stains, or peculiar smells coming from certain areas of the property.
How do you conduct a mold inspection?
The initial inspection is visual and completed by one of our experts. Our professionals are trained to detect areas that could potentially be a source mold. Our certified mold inspectors are also capable of providing laboratory analysis to determine the levels of toxicity in mold, should that step be necessary. In the event that unacceptable levels of mold are discovered, problem areas of the home can be thoroughly cleaned or replaced to eliminate the mold, and precautionary steps taken to prevent the moisture that allows the mold to grow in the first place.
Why is it important to inspect my house for mold?
Everybody is exposed to a small amount of mold spores everyday, and in limited quantities this amount can be generally safe. However, in homes with excessive mold and spores, constant exposure to it can lead to health problems over time. Those with weakened immune systems, such as small children or the elderly, or those with breathing-related health problems, such as asthma, could be particularly at risk.
Will mold cause damage to my home?
Due to the nature of mold growth, it’s doesn’t directly cause worrisome structural damage to the home. However, it does have the potential to leave ugly stains on the surface of building materials and cause unpleasant odors within the home. We recommend having your home tested by certified mold inspectors to keep your property in top shape, and to keep your loved ones safe from irritating spores.
What exactly is mold?
House mold is a type of fungus that consists of tiny organisms. These miniscule organisms have a habit of growing in damp and humid areas. Mold reproduces and spreads by putting tiny spores out into the air. These spores can attach to other damp areas on surfaces or within walls. They start growing and put even more spores out into the air. Mold infested air can cause adverse health effects, such as nasal congestion, throat irritation, dryness or irritation on the skin and eyes. Breathing problems like coughing and wheezing are also very common.
